Spice Things Up With a Mexican Fiesta! #amazonfinds

Updated: Feb 10

This time of year can feel bland and isolating, so consider turning up the heat with a Mexican Fiesta! Hosting a Mexican Fiesta at home is not just about throwing any old party; it's about creating an unforgettable experience that transports your guests to the heart of Mexico. Imagine Mariachi music echoing through the air, colorful papel picado banners adorning your home, and the aroma of tacos and enchiladas tantalizing your senses. So, bring the spice to beat the chill, and let's discover what it takes to host a successful Mexican Fiesta right in your own home!

Set the Mood with Festive Décor

When I think of a Mexican party I imagine a bright vibrant color palette.  Start by decking out your space with traditional Mexican décor. Use bursts of color like bright bold pinks, oranges, greens, and yellows on everything from the drinks, food, and overall décor.  Although it’s preferable to host a fiesta outdoors, you may have to transform the interior of your home if you’re entertaining in the winter. Hang perforated banners and pom poms, string lights, and colorful tablecloths to infuse your space with a festive flair. Don't forget to add a touch of authenticity with cactus plants, sombreros, and piñatas. Set up a photo booth area with props like mustaches, sombreros, and oversized sunglasses for hilarious snapshots.

Create a Fiesta-worthy Playlist

Music sets the tone for any party, and a Mexican Fiesta is no exception. Compile a playlist featuring iconic Mexican tunes, from lively Mariachi bands to upbeat salsa rhythms. Let the music transport your guests to the streets of Mexico, where every beat is a celebration of life. Be sure there’s an ample supply of Maracas for guests to shake and clear an area for dancing so there’s room when the guests begin to move!

Craft Signature Cocktails: Pitchers of margaritas

No Mexican Fiesta is complete without refreshing colorful drinks. Mix up a pitcher of classic margaritas with fresh lime juice, tequila, and triple sec. For non-alcoholic options, serve agua frescas like horchata or Jamaica, made from hibiscus flowers. Don't forget to serve them in fun glassware and garnish with salt rims and colorful umbrellas for that extra festive touch. Investing in a Frozen Slushy Machine to make restaurant style margaritas will certainly elevate your margarita game.

Prepare a Mouthwatering Menu

The heart of any fiesta lies in its food, so don't hold back when it comes to planning the menu. Serve up a spread of authentic Mexican dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and tamales. Set up a DIY taco bar with an array of toppings, including salsa, guacamole, and sour cream, so guests can customize each bite. Be sure to use a granite mortar and pestle set to smash your avocados into the perfect guac.  Invest in a ceramic tortilla warmer so guests can help themselves to warm taco wraps throughout the evening. Decorate your taco station with small and large colorful bowls  to hold all the accompaniments.

Don't Forget the Favors

Send your guests home with a taste of Mexico by providing themed party favors. Fill mini piñatas with candy or small trinkets for a festive surprise, or offer Cinco de Mayo necklaces as a keepsake. Think about gifting them with jars of homemade salsa or spices to recreate the flavors of the evening. Providing little ponchos for their Coronas would be a hit as well. A little token of appreciation goes a long way in making your guests feel cherished and remembered.

Hosting a Mexican Fiesta at home is a guaranteed way to spice up any gathering and create lasting memories with friends and family. By following these tips you can turn your home into a vibrant fiesta destination on a cold winter’s night. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your maracas and fiesta like there's no mañana!
